SPIFF

Also known as Special Performance Incentive

A short-term bonus incentive on top of comp plan, usually for a specific product, quarter or behaviour.

In depth

SPIFFs are a blunt instrument: effective for shifting rep focus in the short term (e.g. push a new product), but they train reps to wait for the next SPIFF rather than sell the base plan.
