Deferred Revenue

Also known as Unearned Revenue

Cash collected for services not yet delivered, sitting on the balance sheet as a liability until earned.

In depth

Annual prepay creates a large deferred revenue balance, which is a strength (cash in hand) and a signal (customers committed). Growing deferred revenue faster than recognised revenue is a leading indicator of accelerating bookings.
